This topic is always discussion in the real estate market. Property listings shown online, particularly those on real estate portals, focus a lot on the photos presented. Poor quality and low resolution images are not attractive to home seekers. This trend is also verified in images that have meaningless elements when it comes to photography. One of the most identified elements is watermarks.

Should you add watermarks to property photos?

Currently it is very simple to remove watermarks with image editing programs. The use of watermarks does not guarantee the intellectual property of the image.

Real estate portals have been changing the rules concerning property listings, penalizing properties that do not meet certain requirements, such as the use of the description for purposes other than the property description.

Watermarks will be one of the upcoming criteria modified. Real estate portals already have their own watermarks, restricting properties with photos that already have a watermark at the time of exporting.

All real estate portals show the identity of the agency that is listing the property, and most of the time watermarks overlap the photo therefore causing less ‘readability’ for the potential customer.
